INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — In a community void of a late-night coffee shop, those in search of a quiet and comfortable place to study, read or sift the Internet for years have been faced with little to no options — until now.

The eLearning Café — a newly opened Incline Village-based education center — is "a community gathering place with an educational twist," said Incline resident Kathryn Kelly, proprietor of the community's newest nonprofit.

"This is a college town," Kelly said. "And Incline needed a coffee house — a place where students can come and focus on work."

While the initial focus of the eLearning Cafe is to supply college students a suitable environment to study, the café will also provide support for students in grades 6-12.

Not only are there supplemental online programs, language learning software and college preparatory classes, but the café will offer career training and feature vocational speakers who will discuss "what students can do without college," Kelly said.

Another salient feature of the education center is the ability to offer English language learning to both children struggling to keep up at school and adults who want to improve their English communication skills.

Adult education is another component of the cafe, Kelly said, with online college classes, professional development classes and lectures on tape to people of all ages to enjoy.

Despite catering to everyone, Kelly said the focus is still on improving education for Incline students at the middle school, high school and college.

NEVADA – A new e-learning café is set to prove a popular meeting venue for residents of the small Incline Village community on lake Tahoe, Nevada.

The newly opened education centre is the first of its kind in the area and has been described as a community meeting place with an educational twist.

The college town had no late night café for students or residents, so the not-for-profit centre was set up to provide somewhere for students and residents to hang out, surf the net, study and socialise.
