Working at Ronald McDonald House at Stanford has been a true inspiration for me, keeping me fully engaged and energized for 17 years. Often the families need to return, year after year, for checkups, since the child’s illness was so serious. Seeing the children, who were so ill and medically fragile when they stayed at the House, get healthier, and taller, and more robust is literally wonderful— something which fills us with wonder!
In addition to the galvanizing work with the little ones and their families, the House is also a magnet for nice people. It is so encouraging to be surrounded by people like the front desk volunteers who come in week after week, the corporate teams who do special projects, and the folks who drop by saying, “when I was buying my kids Christmas gifts, I thought about the kids at the House, and I bought two of everything!”
In short, it is so clear that volunteering, donating and working at the House make a profound difference in the lives of the kids, that a real circle of support has grown up around them, helping the little ones and filling their lives with meaning.
Thanks for including us in the Sandlot Hero community.
